I don't like octopus at all, so I think this should definitely count for me. But I'm probably not going to have more than a couple of bites of this, so I've definitely got to get something nice as well.
[She reaches for a couple of bottles of ramune. Gotta have something to take the taste away... and hey, it's nearly summer.]
Yeah, let's load up on good snacks. Whatever we don't eat during the movie we can save for later.
[He's piling all sorts of delicious garbage into his hand basket, personally. Cookies, mochi, dango, melonpan, a couple different types of bottled tea.]
You can have whatever's left of my natto, too, if you want.
[You read her mind, she's already taken the chance to stock up on collagen drinks and melon soda and now it is, yes, delicious garbage time.
[Strawberry pocky, yes please. She's also grabbing some more fruit sandwiches and strawberry cream puffs. And would it really be a movie night without popcorn?]
Well, it's not as bad as octopus...! But I suppose I'd probably rather eat everything else.
[Melonpan is a good idea. Let's get some more of that to take home.]
Thank you, Cobalt-san. I'm glad I started learning, it's been such fun... I'll definitely have to look up a recipe. I'd really like to try melonpan when it's just out the oven.
[She helps him finish up packing, and takes her share of the bags.]
[Once they've commandeered the room, Wednesday takes a seat and starts laying out the snacks. Yes, she has found a cloth to spread them out on and yes, that is a whole lot of delicious, delicious junk.
[She picks up the takoyaki rice ball, holding it as if it might go off any minute. This thing is actually making her slightly uncomfortable. Ugh, why octopus of all things. She pulls a face.]
So, um... before we choose a film...
[Okay. Be brave! She opens a corner of the wrapper.]
[Stirring up his container of natto with a pair of chopsticks]
Yeah, same...
[god it's like a giant booger. Why does it have to be so slimy, or so pungent?
He picks up a huge glob of it, trying to ignore the strings of slime, and pops it in his mouth. He tries not to think about either the flavor or the texture as he chews.
Past the revulsion, there's a weird mix of greediness, gratitude, and obligation. A calorie's a calorie, no matter what it tastes like, and he's lucky to have this, and he ought to lick the container clean because refusing food over something as trivial as a bad flavor isn't a luxury he can afford.
[She's taken the largest bite she can bear to when Cobalt starts on the natto and between his disgust and her disgust this is honestly one of the least pleasant physical experiences she's had outside of a... formal framework.
[Ugh, why octopus. Wednesday pulls a face as she chews. It's so weird. So gummy. Managing to somehow both taste of nothing and yet be just utterly repellent at the same time. At least the rice takes the edge off it a bit but... no. No, no, no. It's so hard to make herself swallow this stuff at the best of times. Ugh - she forces it down, takes a mouthful of whatever drink is nearest to take the taste away.
[He takes the octopus rice ball and takes a big bite to try and purge himself of the lingering natto experience in his mouth. His relief is nearly immediate, revulsion replaced with the soft and pleasant taste of rice, and the delightful chewy octopus. Oh man this is so much better.]
Whew... thank you.
Do you want the rest of mine?
[sliding the plastic tray of natto in her direction]
[She takes another mouthful of the soda, and it helps; she can't quite understand how it is that eating the octopus is making Cobalt feel better but, well... taste is sort of subjective?]
I'm sorry. I know it's wasteful, but... I think it's the texture? Maybe I should take this outside, it's a bit...
[She's gonna put the lid back on the natto and reach for the rice ball wrappings before heading to find somewhere to dump them.
[You're the best, Wednesday. Thank you for taking the initiative for throwing it away -- he still feels guilty about wasting food, even though logically he knows it's probably fine, but old habits die hard. And having the decision taken out of his hands means not having to stress out about doing it, himself.]
Thanks.
[he finishes off the rice ball and wipes his hands before going through the movie options. He doesn't recognize any of these, so he's just reading the descriptions as he flips through]
Hmmm what to watch... Do you already know of one you'd like to watch or should we just pick something and see what happens?
[Wednesday sits down, wipes her hands on a napkin before reaching for something delicious. The fruit sandwiches won't keep, so she's going to start there. She watches as Cobalt scrolls through the movies, alert for something she might recognize, but honestly she's as lost as he is when it comes to black-and-white films.]
Hmm... I'm sorry, I don't recognize any of these. Let's just pick something.
[he picks one at random, and then leans back against the (bean bag chair? couch? mountain of pillows? whatever soft and comfortable furniture exists in this place) and cracks open a package of dango. Hot diggety he loves these.]
[Cuddling is an objective, she remembers maybe... oh, fifteen-thirty seconds after she's started doing it anyway because here's Cobalt and they're watching a movie and she's got good things to eat like this sandwich. Even so, she remembers her manners and pulls back a bit.]
Oh... sorry, that was rude, wasn't it? I should have asked...
[He curls his arm around her and pulls her in close.
It's comfort and adoration and reassuring safety, the kind of profound affection one might have for a beloved younger sister. Fondness deeps into something that is unequivocally love, warm and steady and protective.]
[Wednesday feels the same, after all. He's like a brother, the very best kind: the kind you find in stories. She loves Cobalt right back: it's funny, for all the feedback she's getting from him right now, this doesn't feel all that different to so many of the other times they've done this. All the bond between them does is confirm something she was already, without really realizing it, absolutely certain of.]
As they watch the movie, he idly strokes her hair with one hand and snacks with the other.
The movie itself is kinda fun, kinda campy. He finds himself kind of fond of the idea of romance, actually, so the movie winds up being something of a dumb, pleasant experience.
His favorite part is Wednesday snuggled up against him, though.]
[The movie seems a little - disjointed? She can't discount the possibility that she did fall asleep, actually. But it's simple and sweet and sentimental enough that it doesn't really matter. It's fun, and she gets caught up enough she's tearing up a little bit by the end, dabbing at her eyes.
[(Not that this says much about the movie, mind. Wednesday's teared up over commercials before.)
[It wouldn't be half as nice, of course, if she'd been doing it alone. It's because Cobalt's here, because she's doing this with someone she really likes.]
Re: Day 235, Emotionshare Game
Oh, is it? Then I'll eat whatever you don't finish.
Re: Day 235, Emotionshare Game
[GOSH YOU'RE BRAVE.]

I wonder if this would be difficult to bake?
Re: Day 235, Emotionshare Game
He's bagging up his junk so they can start heading back to the game tower]
Probably not for you, maybe. I've seen the stuff you've been doing, lately.
[genuine and complete confidence in her ability]

So... Are we ready?
Re: Day 235, Emotionshare Game
Looks like it! Let's go watch a movie.
[TO THE GAME TOWER]

I kind of want to get this out of the way.

(he still makes a face about it though)]

[Oof. She feels sort of sick now.]
D-do you still want the rest...?
[She holds out the rice ball to Cobalt.]
I'm... pretty sure we don't have to eat it all.

Please—

[He raises his arm, inviting her to snuggle up against his side.]
Come here.
Re: Day 235, Emotionshare Game
[And then security, and affection right back, as she curls up next to him and rests her head on his shoulder.]
This is nice... we should do this again sometime.
Just without the awful food.
Re: Day 235, Emotionshare Game

Re: Day 235, Emotionshare Game
[That's a yes, if it wasn't obvious; she's reaching up to smooth her hair, just in case.]
I mean - of course. You just have to ask.

Do I need any special tools for it? Like a brush or... a...ribbon...?
