Ah, yeah, not everyone's compatible with their unit's Lives. I'm not fond of one of ours, either.
Silver's a pretty reasonable guy, though. I'm sure if you explained to him what you were trying to accomplish, he might even be able to help you word it in a way where people didn't actually get mad about it.
