The meteor shards contain magic. If you imbue a weapon or tool with their power, you can use its magic for yourself -- To fight, or to heal, or to lend support to others in a pinch.
Is it possible to find these things while doing the lights?
I suppose if you think we can fight with what we have I will focus on the lights for the moment before pivoting to weapons and shards. Just tell me where to go.
You might, but there are stockpiles of both weapons and shards North of here, at both the power plant and at my apartment, where I've collected a bunch.

We can fight with the weapons we have on-hand if we really need to, but getting those lights online is vital.
